The Three Peaks Challenge

The challenge to walk the 3 highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales is one of the ultimate goals of many people. Breathtaking scenery, fresh clean air and a sense of freedom are what you get when you reach the summit.

We are taking on The Three Peak Challenge to raise money for the "Way Forward" project.

The Way Forward Projector

• Enhancing Stebbing Church's Future

• Expanding our facilities

• Out reaching into our community

St Mary’s church is a busy place, the building stands tall at the end of the village of Stebbing, its medieval architecture admired by all who visit the village. For more than 700 years the church has been at the heart of village life.

Over the past five years, members of St Mary’s have carried out a detailed study into the life of the church, the facilities we have and our vision for the future. The overriding obvious thing that was clear to all was that we see the church as being the heart of the community, serving both young, old and inbetween!

So how do we do that? Well we looked at the areas of development……

The floor is uneven, the heating is ineffective, the roof leaks, the seating space is inflexible and there is no storage space. We have an abundance of children and youth attending our events and clubs, yet we have no suitable spaces to safely run many of our activities. We are a church that sees hospitality as one of its greatest gifts, yet we do not have a kitchen in which we can prepare food! Our vision is to enhance our wonderful medieval building with some sensible 21st century facilities whilst retaining its treasure, sense of peace, light and warmth.

All of this requires investment and this is our small way of supporting our church to move forward and be the beacon of light in our community….. a church for all.
