Steamship Pastries

Steamshipco is a small startup in food service, baking and pastry production. My name is Jason Hale and I am the owner and only employee of Steamshipco. I recently graduated from Ivy Tech's Hospitality Management Program, with an A.A.S. in Baking & Pastry Arts. I attended school in part with money from the Montgomery GI Bill after service in Afghanistan. I love my college and the solid foundation that both Ivy Tech and the US Army have provided me. Having recently finished school, I started my company with zero money. In hindsight, that was a brilliant decision. As a business owner and role model of mine said "create your own problems and obstacles"- Dwayne, owner of Tea's me Tea, Indianapolis, Indiana. As a vetern of the US Army and a proud Combat Engineer, I love a good obstacle. Whether I have to go around it, or through it, that obstacle is a gonner.

Dwayne is right, its healthy to consciously create good problems as a small businesses owner, good problems call for great solutions. That's exactly what I've done, I launched my businesses with no money, thus creating a managelable obstacle and a need for capital. This is a healthy problem to have. Many small businesses experience cash flow issues, mine is no exception. This healthy, and necessary obstacle has spurred growth, innovation, and clear goals for SteamshipCo.

Step one is simple,  get her moving in the right direction (license, insurance, chest freezer, more sheet pans, generator, enclosed trailer, upgraded FDA approved packaging, shipping center, more).

For starters, a donation from you directly impacts my ability to get in the kitchen and bake. Ingredients, equipment, insurance, license, utilities, packing, shipping, online presence, it all reqiures money, one ingredient currently in short supply. I make products on a very lean budget, I built my bakery case from scratch, spent money on eduction and supplies, in doing so I focused this idea into the tip of a spear.

My cakerolls, cookies, pastries, and other desserts are small batch, premium products.

*Currently I'm only able to do limited production runs do to a lack of buying power and inadequate cold storage.
