STATUE FOR THE KING!
The Hungarian Elvis Club would like to establish a statue for Elvis in the Elvis Presley park in Budapest with the help of an international cooperation.
Due to Elvis’s call in the Ed Sullivan Show, an aid package worth of 26 million Swiss francs arrived to Budapest helping the destitute Hungarian people after the suppression of the revolution in 1956.
For this act, he was made an honorary citizen of Budapest in 2011 and a park was named after him.
The Elvis Presley park is located in a nice and popular area of the city, right by the river Danube.We would like to have a statue there which is worthy of Elvis, serving as a tribute to his human and artistic magnitude and would be a popular spectacle of the Hungarian capital as well as a worthy venue of our annual candlelight commemorations on August 16.
According to our plans the life-size statue would represent Elvis with a guitar in his hand, sitting on a bench, where anyone could sit next to him and could take a photo with him. We have chosen the well-known sculptor, Mr. László Kutas to create the artwork.
