Hello, My name is Brandy. I have been a Certified EMT-B (Emergency Medical Technician- Basic) in the state of Maryland for 11 years. I am employed full time for a County Agency on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and work 24hr shifts responding to 911 emergency calls for the citizens of this county. I have also worked for a few Private Ambulance Transport companies in the past and was an Operations Manager for a while for one of those companies. What I have come to realize recently is that alot of patients in the ER's, on the floors of the hospitals are having to wait extremely long hours for ambulance transfers to other facilities because Private Ambulance companies are pushing off transports or giving unreasonable pick up times for the patients. The companies are putting extremely large unreasonable work loads on the field crews and calls are being scheduled with over lapping times with extended ETA's due to overloaded work loads. Bottom line the companies are being greedy for money and NOT thinking about the patients when scheduling pick ups for people in need of transports to other hospitals for higher level of care. Employees of these companies are being treated unfairly due to unobtainable expectations. Patients are being pushed off and told to wait hours and even days in ER's because unrealistic pick up times are being given because of the overlapping of calls. The crews are being pushed to unsafe limits by driving long distance calls back to back because of money hungry owners and companies.

What I would love to do and has been a dream of mine for a many years is open a Non-Emergency Ambulance and Transportation Company that caters to the patients by opening a company geared towards the patient and not the money. I would like to take care of my employees and give them better working conditions and work environments by taking on call loads they can handle and not overlapping them. It's time we change the industry from money hungry owners and companies to caring for patients and our employees.

I am trying to raise what seems to be a very large amount of money but when it's truly a drop in the bucket when starting a NEMT (Non-Emergency Medical Transport) company. The $100,000 would help buy a couple used Ambulances and Wheelchair vans to get started. This will be a family owned business and stay a family owned business. Plans will include quick, timely and reasonable response times to pick up patients. Respectful and ethical patient care and transports. Patients will be treated like family from the very first encounter from our crews. Employees will be paid better then competitors in hopes to be able to better support their families at home. On Holidays meals will be cooked and provided for those working because they too will be apart of our family. Plans to open daycare for employees in the future to help alleviate the cost of having to pay obscene amounts for daycare just so the parents can make a living and provide for their families.

I thank each and every one of you that took the time out to read this and helping in trying to make a change in the world for the better, especially for our older generation. It would truly mean the world to me if you could donate anything at all. Thank you all so much for your time. Brandy
