Start-UP Capital On The Road To Self-Sufficiency

My name is Margaret Njeri, from Naivasha, Kenya. I’m trying to make my own way in the world by starting my own accommodation business. However I am really struggling with the financial side of things.

I have acquired six, two bedroom houses, set on a secure 1.5 acres with direct access to the famous Lake Naivasha. These were built as workers accommodation to a very basic standard nearly 40 years ago. They have not been maintained very well over the years, and have been vacant for the most part of the last 10 years, as the business they were built for ceased operations. They now require complete renovation and modernisation.

These houses are in a very highly sought after tourist location and also hugely popular with foreign workers on contract work in Kenya.

I am seeking a figure of €10,000 per house (total €60,000). This will provide complete renovation of each house, including a new roof and ceilings, windows, plastering and painting inside and out, tiling, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, water tower, solar panels (govt. requirement) and all necessary bathroom and kitchen fit-outs, furnishings and landscaping (including decking/patio area).

The finished project will offer high standard accommodation and will enable me to create much needed local employment both during and after construction work.
