They were just about to start their new life as a couple. Got married in January after being diagnosed that he has brain tumor. Not sure if it is a cancer yet, but they keep going on with the wedding to create a family they dreamed of. In January 22th after the biopsy, the result came out that Manuel was diagnosed with Anaplastic Astrocytomas, Grade III. They still have hope and thinking after going through 6 weeks of chemotherapy and radiotherapy everything will be ok. His tumor is not an operatable one, therefore radiation and chemo are their only hope for the tumor to shrink. After going through 2 weeks of radiation and chemo, the blood test shows that he is a MGMT Unmethylated, which not responding to the chemo medication. But again, they are very hopeful, believing that God will heal him. After the course of treatment they fly back to Jakarta to recover. With no warning, within a month after going back home, his condition keep going down and struggling with pneumonia caused by the weaken nervous system in his throat area. Within a month, he is already in and out hospital for 4 times and spent some time in ICU room.
Manuel is registered with an insurance, but by the time he was diagnosed he still in the 17 critical illness waiting period. So they refused to cover the hospital bills. Right now they are struggling covering mountain of medical bill that they weren't prepare for it. They were thinking the recovery will be just like eating healthy, lots of rest and it will slowly progressing well. But his body respond differently. They ended up have to turn their bedroom into hospital room.
The journey still on going as he still need to do the MRI post chemotherapy and radiotherapy, to know what is the next treatment. As a friend always on her side, I witness all the hardship she fight herself and her nightmare of sudden present of mountain of hospital bill. They've been out of work for 5 months now, Manuel since he is sick and since Christine have to taking care of him. Right now, they also need to hire a nurse, since Manuel is continue doing home care, a certified nurse required to inject medication to him. As staying in the hospital can be very expensive. Your donation will goes towards the hospital bills that she still owe, medical equipment, drugs that he still constantly needed, follow up treatment, and they are also moving house to reduce their expenses. Me and some other friends who initiate this, would like to encourage you to help her to ease her burden and her family and share God's grace. Please keep on praying for their family. God bless.
