Poor Stanley is a bright, lively, super sweet year an a half old puppy in need of some major surgery. When he was about 4 months old Stanley was found in a ditch by the side of the road, with a noticeable limp, leading to the conclusion that he was clipped by a car and left there. I found Stanley at an adoption event when he was 6 months old, after he had bounced around between shelters being ignored simply because he was a Pitt bull with possible medical concerns (including a small tumor on his side, which he conquered). He was the only dog not barking and going crazy, simply standing looking sad and longingly as people walked by, hoping for a home.

I've had Stanley just over a year now, and he has become the most loving, cuddly, sweat heart (entirely opposite of the Pit stereotype) that any parent could hope for. His "pimp walk" as it had been dubbed, lingered and eventually worsened after a rough dog park outing followed by a clumsy spill (in part due to his injury) into a table, which collapsed onto his injured leg.

Stanley has been diagnosed with a fully torn Cranial Cruciate Ligament (the dog equivalent of an ACL) on his right knee and a partially torn CCLon his left side. The vet recommended trying bed rest at first followed by surgery, which ranges from 1500-5000$ depending on how long I wanted Stanley to be comfortable for in the future. As Stanley is so young, a the cheapest option (1000-2000$ depending on the vet) would leave him inline for arthritis and more surgery not too far down the road. After further X-rays, medicine and a month on bed rest Stanleys knee was not healing, and so it looks like surgery is my only option if his legs are to remain usable for the remaining 10-12 years of his life. I cant let such a loving, innocent pup suffer for so long, knowing that I could have done something about it had I been able to raise the money.

There is a very high chance that Stanley will need surgery on his left leg after his physical therapy is done on the right side, Raising my total to $5000 minimum, just in surgery. I really hope to give Stan a chance at a comfortable, non-miserable life. Thus I am asking for kindness from those who might be able to relate or have a soft spot for animals and have any amount to give. Thank you for reading Stanleys story and in advance for any help you can give
