Hi! I'm Stacy Gaskill and I'm on my 4th year of reaching my goals of competing in the 2022 Winter Olympics in Snowboarding and a future Summer Olympics in Ultimate Frisbee. I am so excited to announce that I have officially been named to the US Olympic Snowboard Team and will be competing at the 2022 Winter Olympics in China!

My Boardercross (SBX) World Cup journey began when I was named to the US Snowboarding Team in 2018. The 2018-19 Season was my 1st on the SBX World Cup. I started 30th, ended up 20th, with my best result being 12th where I beat the 2018 Olympic Silver medalist twice. Jake Vedder & I finished 9th in the Mixed SBX event at the 2019 Snowboard World Championships. Unfortunately at the March World Cup (WC) in Spain I sustained a season ending injury shattering my wrist. As a result, I missed the final WC and the 2019 Junior World Championships, so my standing dropped to 25th for the year.

During the 2019-20 SBX Season I faced many challenges including Mono in the Fall that prevented me from training leading up to the first 2 World Cups. Then in Canada on the last day of a US Team Training Camp I suffered a concussion that kept me from competing in the World Cup at Big White. Realizing I might not remain on the US SBX World Cup Team with only a few competitions left, I switched over to the North American SBX Tour and secured a spot on the US Team by finishing 3rd overall. Then the Covid-19 Pandemic shut down the World!! That summer I had surgery on my shoulder to repair an injury from 2014.

The 2020-21 SBX World Cup Season was all about being prepared physically, mentally, and emotionally as the World struggled to deal with, understand and survive the Covid-19 Pandemic! WC competitions and training camps were canceled, then rescheduled, only to be canceled again! But the SBX community came together, Countries stepped in when others had to cancel, and they managed to put together an SBX WC Season! I trained hard with Ross Hindman and the International Snowboard Training Center (ISTC) creating make-shift workouts/personal gyms while traveling, observing many mandatory foreign quarantines, taking countless Covid-19 tests, and as Captain of the ISTC Team keeping everyone's spirits and focus up.

As hard and unpredictable as the season was I did well! I placed 6th at the 2021 World Championships (the top US finish of the Women and Men! http://usskiandsnowboard.org/news/gaskill-leads-am... I had 7 top 10 finishes out of 9 World Cup competitions. At the World Cup Finals (only top 16 Overall Women invited) I finished 7th! I started the season ranked 30th and finished 11th overall! When the season ended I had surgery again on the same shoulder since I was in constant pain and had no strength for my Start Pulls. It turns out I had been dislocating my shoulder in my sleep all season!

In June I was named to the US SBX B Team. I moved to Park City, UT to train out of the US Ski & Snowboard Center of Excellence, under the expert guidance of trainers, PT's, coaches, & doctors to allow the delicate healing of my shoulder as I got stronger. In September I was given the clearance to attend the Saas Fee training camp in limited capacity. Everyday my shoulder is getting stronger and I'm off to a great season. At our first competition of the season at Secret Garden in China (2022 Olympic Venue) I finished 8th. At Montafon, I finished 7th (only US Woman in the top 16!) and placed 8th with Alex Diebold in the Mixed Team event. I finished 13th in Cervinia, 8th in Russia, and 6th in perhaps my best competition. I just missed getting into the Big Finals (1-4th). Cortina is January 29th and then we head to Beijing for the 2022 Olympics! I am so thrilled to be representing the United States and having an Olympic Dream since I was 8 years old finally come true!

On January 24, 2022 I was notified that I have been selected for a 3rd time Sportswoman of Colorado in Snowboarding! In 2018 as well as 2019, I also received this prestigious Award, though in 2018 it was for Freeride (Extreme Snowboarding), and 2019 for Freeride and SBX. What a great honor for me!

I still am working towards my other Olympic Dream, to represent the US in Ultimate Frisbee at the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles! Remember my devastating shattered wrist injury in March 2019?Through hard work, LOTS of Physical Therapy, determination, and perseverance I was able to overcome my serious injury and by July I was able to compete on USA U24 Women's Ultimate Team at the 2019 U24 Ultimate Frisbee World Championships. The US U24 Team was undefeated and earned the Gold as World Champions! (I competed on the U20 Women's Ultimate Team in 2018 where we also won the Gold at the 2018 U20 Ultimate World Championships!)

In 2019 I the youngest player for the 2nd year on Denver's top Women's Ultimate Team, Molly Brown, which finished 2nd at the Pro Championships and 6th at the 2019 Club Nationals. I presently play on the University of Colorado's Women's Ultimate A team, Quandary. Playing Ultimate at the top level is giving me amazing experience and skills that I hope to use representing US Ultimate at the 2028 Summer Olympics. In January 2020, I was honored to be to 1 of 28 men & women selected from across the US to be a role model and promote Ultimate Frisbee at the Beach of Dreams Youth Invite. During the summer of 2021, I was selected to be a coach at the Ultimate Cut Camp put on by US Ultimate.

In order to continue training at a World Class Elite level both for Boardercross and Ultimate Frisbee, I need to raise money to cover my training, traveling, equipment, and competition fees. Hopefully, if I can raise enough money I'll be able to train full-time and move up to the SBX A team where my expenses will be covered in the future. But it takes time, commitment, determination, grit, and dedication to reach those goals.

Therefore, I'm launching a fundraising campaign in hopes of covering the costs of training & competing at an elite level in both sports! Become a part of #StacyStrong2022, and join me on my athletic journey and my Olympic Dreams! Any donation amount is appreciated!
