Campaign Story
Joe Anthony was brutally attacked in a robbery on Wednesday 6th June 2018 while closing the business he works for.
He was stabbed 4 times with an eight inch bread knife. The worst wound was one that went into his side, through his large intestine also causing damage to his pancreas. He was taken to Baragwanath hospital which was hardly helpful. They only operated on him at 3.45am on thursday morning.
On friday we were told that he needs a 2nd operation and advised us to rather move him out of there as they do not have the facilities to operate & that there was no space in their icu for him, and they therefore had him in normal ward.
Joe IS NOT isnt on medical aid and a massive deposit was needed before the hospital would agree to have him admitted.
We started posts and we got in some donations and he was then transfered to the Union hospital where treatment was started in the icu.
On Saturday 9th June 2018 he went in for his 2nd operation to repair all the damages and to try and clear out infection.
The infection has spread to the abdomen and his lungs have collapsed. The doctors have him heavily sedated and on a ventilator. He will go into theatre again in two days time.
All of this is costing a huge sum of money and in order for the hospital to continue treatment we need to keep on paying them.
Joe is a father of two young children, a husband, a son, a brother, a cousin, a friend. He did not deserve this.
We are pleading to everybody and anybody to help in what ever way possible to save this young man's life. A life that is now threatened because of the scum that is walking around on this planet.
Thank you for assistance that you offer.
