Sri Lanka Volunteering Adventure

Hi everyone,

My name is Holly and I am 15, I am aiming to raise money for myself, to be able to go on a 2 week trip to Sri Lanka after my GCSEs. The trip involves exploring the beautiful country alongside volunteering (painting and decorating) in the local community of Ambalangoda, helping elephants and turtles and helping/teaching at a tsunami project. Along the way I will get to learn about the culture of Sri Lanka and experience it first hand, visiting towns and World Heritage Sites such as Galle, Mirissa and Ella, as well as going on safari in Yala National Park.

I am very passionate about volunteering, I work at my local theatre, helping out with drama sessions for young children twice a week. I hope to travel and volunteer around the world when I am older. On this upcoming trip, I am especially looking forward to working in the animal sanctuaries and teaching at the project for tsunami safety.

I would be going with a wonderful organisation called Plan My Gap Year, who offer many trips around Asia, Africa, South America and more. All of their projects involve vital volunteering and aid in the visited countries, especially teaching children English, animal rescue and working in hospitals. They have achieved many goals and improved the lives of many people.

The start date that I am hoping to leave on is the 6th of July 2019. I am fundraising in my local town as well as working to be able to go on this incredible trip.

All donations would go towards the cost of the trip, flights and contributions to the places that I am volunteering. Anything given would be wonderful!
