Spirogyra, founded in 1992, is a conservation project for one of the last forested areas of the Torres River bio-corridor in the middle of the city of San José, the capital city of Costa Rica. Based on an eco-sustainable business model, it is dedicated to the reproduction and commercialization of butterflies, host plants and nectarifers for pollinators. He is also an agent for other small independent breeders.
The project has a room for the reception of visitors, a main greenhouse, a room where the life cycle of butterflies is exhibited and how they reproduce in captivity, a reproduction workshop, an open-air nursery and a second greenhouse for the reproduction of butterflies.
The project is managed and cared for by the owner of the property Sol Carballo, along with her family and a small team made up of a biologist, a gardener and a receptionist.

Our goal when opening this campaign for the Spirogyra Butterfly Garden, is to enable access to the place for people with disabilities by building 2 ramps with handrails and enabling the sanitary service.
Our wish is that all people can enjoy the experience of connection with nature that our Butterfly Garden offers and that everyone feel welcome, comfortable and safe.

We plan to keep this campaign open to get the amount necessary to achieve these changes during the next two months: October and November 2020 to be able to start doing the remodeling at the beginning of December and open our doors with these changes by inviting organizations that serve this population to visit us for free.
Your support to achieve our goal is essential and any donation is welcome and greatly appreciated!

We believe in other possible worlds where inclusivity is the bread of every day !
