Intro (created May 2016):
Darius Ben (we fondly call him Benben) is our 10-year old son diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder when he was 2 years old. He has since attended Early Intervention Program, Early Childhood Program, and Middle Childhood Program classes along with Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy sessions. He still continues to attend Middle Childhood Program classes. He has developed his skills in gross motor, psychomotor skills, self-help and housekeeping (daily chores) skills. However, at age 10, he still has not developed his speech skills. Benben is still unable to utter a single clear word or phrase (although he is able to utter words randomly such as 'ate' - which means elder sister or 'dede' - which means milk, or 'eat' - which is his favorite thing to do :).
The purpose of this campaign is to help raise modest funds for Benben to purchase and use Proloquo2Go AAC (Augmentative Alternative Communication) app on the iPad. The current iPad Benben is using is also old and would require a replacement if funds permit.

Update posted by Jonathan Dayrit at 11:55 am10 July 2016Over the past weeks, and as part of preparing Benben for formal AAC speech augmentation using Proloquo2Go, we allowed Benben to spend 2 - 3 hours per day on the iPad. He got 're-acquianted' with his favorite iPad apps such as Temple Run 2, Shape Sorter, Injini Lite,. . . . .
