Special needs children of island Šolta

Dear family and friends,

As you know, my son Leni was born 10 weeks prematurely and he has brain hemorrhage grade III.

That affects his motorics greatly and he is now a two year old with motorics on a level of 7 month old baby. Luckily his cognitive skills are not affected.

We live on a small island with only 1500 all year round inhabitants and here we only have family health care provider. For all the physical therapy appointments we have to commute 1 hour by ferry to mainland, 4 times per week, and with limited ferry schedule we lose the whole day away from home to get 45 minutes of therapy.

This is hardship that approximately 20 families on the island go through and all of the young families here have limited health care and after school activities for our children. For that reason we started an organization called "Osmijeh" and we wish to give our children the same opportunities that children have on the mainland.

Municipality of island Šolta is supporting us partially financially in bringing to the island a team of experts such as physical therapist, psychologist, logotherapist, etc. However, we need additional funds to pay fot therapies, to rent the space and to buy all the equipment needed for the therapies. I would greatly appreciate your donation to help us realize our vision.

We also wish to integrate people with disability of all ages and to spread empathy and acceptance. We have organized many art workshops for children as well as workshops for grownups for psychological well-being and support.h
