We're mad, helpless and in tears. I'm sure you would be too.

We got wind of Filipino adult athletes with intellectual disabilities who are left with no assistance. It's been almost two weeks and they are really left to fend for themselves. And the stories are heartbreaking.

B works as a laundrywoman handwashing the clothes of her neighbors. She's an adult with an intellectual disability living in the slums. She doesn't understand what's going on. All she knows is that she needs to work to eat. She barely has soap for her own care and protection.

A was left all alone in his dorm room in Iloilo. He's an orphan with an intellectual disability. He hasn't heard from anyone save for a few friends in Manila. Yet in spite of the distance we have managed to sent him kind people to bring him some food and help. Poor boy was distraught and VERY hungry when help arrived. Thank goodness for angels disguised as human partners.

D is an adult with an intellectual disability, He is a construction worker who gets paid on a per project basis and he lives in the slums in San Andres. His wife works as a manicurist in the streets and they have 4 very young children. His aging mother lives with them too. He is their breadwinner but he doesn't have savings and has very little to help steer his family through this. He doesn't have enough supplies and he's worried about his children (who are beautiful and kind).

We have more stories but we're certain that you know where we are going as most of them are urban poor. We can't show their faces because of privacy. And we're still halfway through this quarantine.

We are wary of so many false fundraisers out there taking advantage of the generous, which is why we're only reaching out to our friends. You know that this is our advocacy. We know of everyone's amazing efforts in helping out the frontline personnel and in their own communities. But they are part of us too. Any amount will be very very very appreciated. Anything to help them get through this challenging situation. If you find all this ECQ confusing and frustrating for you, just imagine what they're going through.

We're hoping to help about 15 special needs adults but hopefully more. Thank goodness for mobile technology we can have the money sent to them safely. We are also figuring out ways to send supplies to them. They also need disinfectants and protection.
