SR | Who is Sparrow Robotics?
Sparrow Robotics comprises of 15 students from 4 different FRC teams, built in May 26th, 2019. All of Sparrow Robotics students have honored their nation and their beloved flag multiple times over the course of the past few years, participating in international competitions that are set in the US. After all the experience they've saved up, these students, alongside themselves, decided to bring together a group of remarkable people whom spent most of their teenage life wandering through workshops and working under their own independent projects, to materialize Sparrow Robotics.
Aims :
● Especially in robotics, to establish and achieve projects about science and technology, nationwise;
● Compete in national and international robotics competitions;
● Influence and educate the youth with robotic technology;
● Present robotic technology in the best way possible in every organization we visit;
Our mission :
As Sparrow Robotics, our mission is to make our youth knowledgeable and used to robotic science and technology in order for them to be one of the best, if not the best, engineers in the world. Alongside this, to notify our nation about scientific achievements and events, mainly about robotics, in order to progress our country through and represent it whereever we go. Our team will take place in 2 major robotics competitions, FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition) and VRC (VEX Robotics Competition) respectively.
Our vision :
Our vision is to improve ourselves as Sparrow Robotics members in areas of entrepreneurship and robotics via FRC, and be a source of insipartion towards the younger ones of our nation in the aforementioned areas.
Why do we need sponsorship? :
Since we're an independent robotics team (non-affiliated), funding of our equipment is, roughly 90% of the time, very challenging; cheap equipment like wire crimp connectors, electric tape, stay bolts etc. can be easily found and bought by most of our group members. However, when it comes to considerably large, expensive and/or not-so-easy-to-find equipment such as various-sized aluminum sigma profiles, tool bags, angle grinders etc. our team is almost helpless. On top of that, FIRST requires a large amount of money to register to the competition in the first place. Even though half of our team members come from private schools, most of them are studying with 100% scholarship. Considering all of this, we need support in order to represent our country in FRC and compete equally with other teams, since most teams are well-funded by their affiliations.
FRC (FIRST Robotics Competition and FIRST youth organization) :
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was built in 1989 with the aim of influencing worldwide youth in robotics, engineering and entrepreneurship and bringing them to action. Currently residing in Machester NH, FIRST has become one of the most well-known non-profit organization, which not only improves teenagers in terms of self-esteem, knowledge and experience in life; it gives the necessary ground teenagers interested in science, technology, engineering, mathematics and entrepreneurship need to grow in, which is filled with various opportunities ready to improve them.
FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), is the most prestigious and well-known competition out of all 4 that FIRST organizes. All high school students can join FRC with their team, without any exception. Just like FIRST itself, FRC aims to improve teenagers in terms of robotics and entrepreneurship. FRC establishes this by making sportsmanship and engineering co-exist and create a playing field full of solidarity and enjoyment. In this competition, participants are required to put together a team (ideally 20 people), plan their robot and adjust themselves a budget either via sponsors or personal funding. After the kick-off event, where the parkour setup is revealed, teams have 6 full weeks with strict rules and a limited budget to design, put together and program an industrial robot suitable to compete in a previously determined parkour and give it a market value. Sponsors of FIRST organization include NASA, Microsoft, IBM, National Instruments, Motorola, Boston Scientific, Chrysler Foundation, General Motors and Johnson & Johnson.
