THE WORST FLOOD IN A CENTURY

South India, specifically the city of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is experiencing its worst flood in 100 years. Over 1.8 million people are affected by this disaster. Many have lost their homes and other belongings. Major forms of transportation, air and ground, are shut down. Many highways and other roads are closed due to the high water levels. Many homes are experiencing power outages. The death toll is 269 and rising. The rain has caused nearly 1.6 billion US Dollars in damage.

We are working with Tamil Nadu Foundation, Inc. (TNF) to provide funds for both the immediate and long-term needs of the victims. Immediate needs include food, clothing, blankets, and shelter. Long term necessities include medical assistance and restoration of homes and belongings. Your donations will be used for volunteer work done by TNF for the flood victims in Tamil Nadu. Thank you in advance for your contribution.

ABOUT ME

I am a high school student from Grand Prairie, TX, USA. Through the news and social media, I learned of the severity of the floods in South India. I saw how people were suffering without food, clothes, or shelter. I knew I had to do something to help the victims of this catastrophe. I realized that there must be other people who felt the same way I did; so I created this fundraiser to allow people like myself to contribute to the flood relief work in India. I knew it was the least I could do for the thousands of people who had lost everything in these floods.

South India has been the perfect example for the saying "In times of crisis, people come together". Whether it be sending money, providing supplies, or volunteering, people from all around the world have been taking a part in helping the victims of this devesating flood.

Let's do our part. Let's be a part of the unity that has formed among those helping the victims. Let's help South India recover.
