Our centre (Judy’s home) was laid to waste following what appears to be an attack in the early hours of this morning.
Due to the remote location, the fire brigade did not get there in time to save much.
Thankfully, neither Judy, or any of our wildlife were injured in the decimation, but a little dog and her pups that had been dropped with Judy for nursing, did perish in the fire.
We are still waiting for SAPS to come out and investigate the arson.
With our constant struggle to make ends meet, we did not have the luxury of any homeowners insurance in place, and we are going to require a massive amount of help to rebuild what is necessary to allow Judy to do what she does so very well - heal and care for our country’s wildlife.
With 40 years of incredible experience and expertise, we cannot allow Judy to give up and walk away from the rehab!
Although we seem to take 2 steps forward and 30 backwards against Mother Nature and the power She wields, Judy has always managed to bounce back and carry on helping our wildlife with support that is forthcoming from those who care as much for our wildlife as we do! We sincerely hope that this challenge will be no different!
We take in, care for and release approximately 6’000 cases a year being one of only 3 wildlife rehab centers in Gauteng fully permitted to take in all species (including Threatened Or Protected Species).
Any donation, big / small / goods or building expertise will be very very appreciated please!
