RE: APPLICATION FOR GRANT/HELP FOR THE CHURCH HALL IN DORINGBAAI FOR SANTA ACTIVITIES.HEREIN CALL`` DIE KOMBUISIE``

Our organization SANTA WESTREN CAPE had established a Santa Branch in Doringbaai about 2 years ago and Mr Leon Klaase is our representation. The Branch is an affiliate of Santa Western Cape and executes the mandate, vision and mission of the organization under our direct supervision.

Since establishment the Santa team had explored numerous ways to find lasting solutions to deal with the socio-economic challenges of the area. To this end partnerships have been established with Local Authorities, Provincial Government, Private Sector and Community Based Organisations. The primary focus is to direct socio-economic upliftment programmes and to leveraging economic investment opportunities to arrest unemployment and the skills challenges that exist in the area.

We would like to formalise a partnership with yourselves in implementing our joint strategy and the cooperative effort, that focusses on the provision of access to a comprehensive basket of higher quality care services to the Community of Doringbaai and surrounding areas. Our model of Direct Observed Treatment Shortcourse achieved successes in this regard, because it primarily focusses on the vulnerable TB and HIV population, and it’s highly dependent on outreach of the entire community.

SANTA Western Cape is proud to be a part of the efforts of the Santa Doringbaai to initiate a application to lease the Church hall so that it can serve a base from where Communities and Government will be able to lodge their respective programme of services to the sick and vulnerable grouping of the areas.

Herewith a plan that reflects that the Branch will effectively be rendering the following services to the Communities at large:

• TB treatment to patients via Direct Observed treatment shortcourse (DOTS)
• Psycho-social support to Patients and Families
• Provision of Soup Kitchen for the Vulnerable and Orphans in the community
• HIV treatment and testing of patients
• Homebased Care services to Patients and families
• Training and Outreach programme marketing the signs and symptoms of the diseases
• Reducing new TB and HIV infections
• Promoting government services that are available
• Economic development initiatives to build capacity, to strengthen education skills and securing of food reserves via establishing of food gardens.

We are humbled that your board considering to partner with us in initiating the provision of much needed services and support to the Doringbaai and surrounding communities. The facility will also facilitate the opportunity to bring Government closer to the communities.

Furthermore we are committed to assist with the refurbishing and cleaning of the facility so it can become habitable to render the much need services.
