Soundwave Music Week is an international online music festival supporting the emerging artists during this time of crisis, due to the worldwide pandemic.
The Alliance Française de Potchefstroom, in partnership with the North-West University is creating this music festival to bring us together as a community in support of our local and “Francophone” artists. We know that our music industry and our artists have been adversely affected due to the Covid-19 pandemic and Soundwave Music Week is a great addition to your calendar bringing the festival vibe into your home.
With a lack of cultural events happening currently, we want you to be able to bring some culture back into your lives!
By enjoying the festival atmosphere with us, you are contributing to giving these artists a virtual platform to show off their talent and allowing us, as a community to, uplift and give back to an industry that is much loved.
Music has always been a uniting factor for people and what better way to unite together as a nation than by supporting our musicians in these tough times ?
Through Soundwave Music Week we aim for you, our audience, to create long lasting bonds with the artists on show and to take us back to a time where we are able to enjoy the music that we love as fans.
Stay tuned! More information is on its way in the coming days and weeks!
Spread the message and collaborate with us in support of our artists and community!
Together, we can create something positive during this pandemic and these trying times!
How can I support Soundwave Music Week ?
By making a donation on our fundraiser :
The amount of R99 700 (5105€ or 5730 USD) allows 3 Headliners and 9 emerging artists to perform during the festival.
By donating a minimum of R50 (around 3€), you can really help us to organize this festival.
In exchange for your donation, your name will be mentioned in a thank you video at the end of each concert.
For each R500 donated (around 26€ - 29 USD), you allow an emerging artist to perform for 7 minutes.
For each R4000 donated (around 206 € - 230 USD), you allow an emerging artist to perform for half an hour, the time allotted to the artist during this festival.
You can also help us by sharing our event. The more people know about this event, the more we can support the artists that are participating in this festival.
TLDR (Too Long Didn’t Read) :
What is Soundwave Music Week?
It is an online music festival which you will be able to watch from home.
Soundwave Music Week has been created by the Alliance Française de Potchefstroom after most festival events were cancelled for the duration of the year. We decided to add some fun to lockdown life for 4 whole days!
After speaking to local artists, we realised that this pandemic has really hit hard for most of the industry. We really wanted to create a space, let’s call it a virtual stage, where artists can share their talent and fans get to enjoy some culture in these unprecedented times.
And what better way to support our artists than by attending a music festival from the comfort of your own home?
What type of music will there be?
We’re ready to show you a wide variety of upbeat music styles, ranging from South African to Francophone to International artists! It will definitely give you a chance to forget about your worries and give that soul some positive vibes :
Line up :
Friday 24th July 2020 (from 19h-21h GMT+2) :
Saturday 25th July 2020 (from 19h-21h GMT+2) :
What is different about it ?
Our plan for Soundwave is also to partner with local restaurants in your area in order to bring the best cultural experience to your doorstep. Restaurants will create a “French-themed” menu for you to order for the duration of the festival!
When will it happen ?
From the 24nd - 25th of July 2020, right there, in your living room.

Hi everyone, Thank you so much to all our backers!!We realised this week that perhaps our idea was too ambitious, given the time frame and the economic situation with the current pandemic. As a result, we have lowered our goal to R30 000 (around 1500 euros). This amount will allow. . . . .
