SOS Children’s Village Project – Vietnam

En début d'année, l'association du Master 2 a décidé d'organiser une collecte de fonds pour un orphelinat à Ho Chi Minh City. Ce projet a été proposé et mené par Diane, qui a été nommée Project Manager pour le mener.

Il y a quelques semaines, Diane et Gina, une autre étudiante du Master, sont parties à la visite de l'orphelinat afin de proposer leur plan d'action à la directrice. Elles ont eu l'occasion d'y rencontrer les enfants, et de voir comment ils vivaient: "Ce qui m'a le plus étonné dans cet orphelinat est le fait qu'ils habitent à 4 ou 5 dans une maisonnette, et que chaque maisonnette est tenue par une "maman", qui est une femme ayant accepté de vivre avec eux durant toute leur enfance. La plupart du temps les frères et soeurs ne sont pas séparés. Je pense que le fait de ne pas les séparer est une des choses qui m'a le plus touchée, car après avoir été séparé de leurs parents, le fait d'être séparés de leurs frères et soeurs pourrait être dévastateur pour leur développement".

Notre projet consiste à créer une collecte de fonds en ligne. Les étudiants du master, pendant ce temps, auront l'occasion d'aller aider l'orphelinat et s'occuper des enfants sur leur temps libre, après leur stage et leurs cours.

Le but de cette collecte est important: financer des ordinateurs afin que les enfants aient un accès à internet pour les aider dans leur éducation et dans leur développement personnel. L'utilisation d'internet est aujourd'hui indispensable, surtout concernant l'acquisition de connaissances, comme la découverte de nouvelles cultures. Les fonds collectés serviront également à financer des activités extra-scolaires tels que des visites culturelles, et activités sportives.

Durant la première visite de l'orphelinat SOS Children Go Vap, la directrice nous a longuement parlé du désir du fondateur: créer un village, un oasis dans lequel ces enfants pourraient trouver refuge. Aujourd'hui, ces enfants vivent et étudient dans de bonnes conditions pour leur développement. Lorsque nous entrons dans le village, nous sentons tout de suite la différence: le tumulte de la ville ne s'entend plus, on entend les oiseaux à la place du bruit des motos. Le village est piéton et sécurisé, où chaque maison dispose d'un potager que les enfants exploitent eux-mêmes.

Gina, qui parle couramment vietnamien, a pu discuter avec les enfants. Ils lui ont dit à quel point ils se sentaient bien dans cet environnement, et ont plaisanté sur le fait qu'ils allaient "trop souvent" à l'école.

Cette association opère un travail titanesque grâce à leur dévouement constant, et nous souhaitons aider les personnes qui y contribuent.

A special project

At the beginning of the year, the Master's association approved the project of one of the students: Organize a fundraising for an orphanage in Ho Chi Minh City. This project has been proposed and led by Diane, who was named Project Manager to carry it out.

A few weeks ago, Diane and Gina, another Master's student, went to visit the orphanage to propose their action plan to the director. They had the opportunity to meet the children, and to see how they lived: "What surprised me the most in this orphanage is the fact that it is not an orphanage, but rather a village. They live at 4 or 5 in a little house, and each house is run by a "mom", who is a woman who has agreed to live with them during their childhood. In fact, they live as a family and most of the time the brothers and sisters are not separated. Not separating them is one of the things that touched me the most, because after being separated from their parents, being away from their siblings could be devastating for a child's development."

Hence, our project will be to create an online fundraiser to complete the charity dinner that was organised a few months ago at the University. The students of the Master, meanwhile, will have the opportunity to go helping the orphanage and take care of the children on their free time, after their internships and their classes.

The purpose of this fundraising is important: to fund computers so that children have access to the internet to help them in their education and personal development. The use of the internet is essential today, especially concerning the acquisition of knowledge such as the discovery of different cultures around the world. The funds raised will also be used to finance extra-curricular activities such as cultural visits and sports activities.

During the first visit of the SOS Children Go Vap orphanage, the director spoke at length about the founder's desire to create a village, an oasis in which these children could find shelter. Today, these children live and study in good conditions for their development: "when we enter the village, we immediately feel the difference: the tumult of the city is no longer heard, we hear the birds instead of the sound of motorcycles. The village is pedestrian and secure, where each house has a vegetable garden that the children grow themselves.”

Gina, who is fluent in Vietnamese, was able to chat with the children. They told her how good they felt in this environment, and joked about going "too often" to school.

This association works incredibly hard thanks to their constant dedication, and we want to help the people who contribute to it.
