Every 98 seconds, an American is sexually assaulted. #MeToo
And every 8 minutes, that victim is a child. #MeToo
Meanwhile, ONLY .006% of perpetrator will end up in prison!!!! (*none of mine have... yet)
Sexual violence can have psychological, emotional, and physical effects on a survivor (i.e. depression, flashbacks, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), self-harm, sexually transmitted infections, substance abuse, dissociation, eating disorders, pregnancy, sleep disorders, suicide, adult survivors of sexual abuse.)
These effects aren’t always easy to deal with, but with the right help and support they can be managed.
Despite my prior personal experiences with being sexually assaulted, I did not take legal action until I was assaulted August 29th, 2017.
I was instructed by law enforcement to keep my experience on the down low, and so I've used the time since my assault focusing on personal development to cultivate healing and fortification of my mind, body and soul through self-empowering tools.
My mission is to be a catalyst, mentor, and advocate for individuals (myself included) who, even after experiencing sexual assault, relentlessly strive towards the development, attainment and maintenance of a healthy and balanced mind, body, and spirit.
My first goal is to raise 11,000 to create a promotional apparel line that will be used to generate funds to establish a non-profit organization that will be recognized throughout the United States of America to start.
The purpose of the non-profit organization will be to ensure that justice has been served despite the disheartening statistic that ONLY 6 out of 1,000 perpetrators will see the inside of a jail cell.
We can not put all of our faith into the legal justice system to solve this Human Rights issue!
On the 29th of February, it will have been 6 months since I was sexually assaulted. My rape kit from the hospital has not been processed, I have been expected to pay for medical bills related to circumstances that I did not ask for and my perpetrator has lived the past 6 months of his life completely unaware of how his actions have affected me.
I am saying this only because I know that I am not alone. I know that there are countless women who feel dis-empowered and are suffering as a consequence.
We have the ability to take immediate action today to be apart of the solution!
