Solidarity Scotland SSM will be standing Candidates in all eight List Regions; the cost of doing this will approximately be £40.000. We ask for your help to meet this target and help get a People's Socialist voice in the Scottish Parliament to represent & fight for you.

A message from Solidarity SSM Co-Convener Tommy Sheridan:

Solidarity is a relatively small political party but with big ideas. We campaign passionately for Scotland's independence and the creation of a new, fairer, non-nuclear and much more equal country where wealth, income and land is distributed much more fairly and everyone's standard and quality of life is higher.

Solidarity opposes nuclear weapons and the environmentally dangerous practice of Fracking and Underground Coal Gasification.

Solidarity will introduce an IndyRef2 Bill to allow us to claim our independence by 2018.

Solidarity will actively oppose and demand defiance of Tory austerity cuts. We believe the Tories have no democratic mandate for their cruel political programme of organised poverty here in Scotland. They and the austerity agenda was completely routed in May's General Election last year. Austerity is neither necessary or effective. It amounts to punishment of the poor and low paid for the greed and mistakes of the rich and powerful. We will demand defiance of austerity not compliance with austerity.

Solidarity will introduce a Bill to create a publicly owned pharmaceutical company to supply our publicly-owned National Health Service. We refuse to allow the private pharmaceutical industry to continue ripping off the NHS with over-inflated prices charged for necessary drugs, many of which are generic and very cheaply produced. We believe health should be about care not profit.

Solidarity will introduce a Democracy Bill to ensure politicians who fail their constituents and renege on their manifesto commitments can be re-called at any time, that the oath sworn is to the people of Scotland not an unelected Crown and that wages of MSPs are reduced to bring them into line with the average wage of a skilled worker. MSPs should be shop stewards for their constituents, not living above and beyond them.

Solidarity will introduce a Bill to replace the unfair council tax with a fairer, more effective income-based system to raise more money for local government jobs and services. Instead of the Tory council tax we will propose the Scottish Service Tax so those on incomes of £50,000 a year and above will pay more and the low-paid and pensioners will pay less.

When last elected to Parliament between 1999 and 2007 I personally introduced Private Members Bills to provide free and healthy school meals for all of Scotland's school pupils, the scrapping of poindings and warrant sales, the replacement of the unfair council tax, the return of Scotland's railway industry to public ownership and the banning of public sales of air guns. In other words I managed to push a very progressive political agenda despite being a single member between 1999 and 2003.

Minority and single members can make a difference. Please help us make a difference. To distribute a leaflet across Scotland will cost us £40,000. We have no rich backers. We ask you to help us with a donation that you can afford. Please make a donation towards our election fund today. Help us raise the £40,000 necessary to stand and produce 2.5 million leaflets for distribution across Scotland. Help elect socialists committed to an independent socialist Scotland. We are asking only for 2nd or what is known as the List vote. If 6 out of every 100 electors gives Solidarity their List vote we will be elected. Only 6 out of every 100. That is not impossible. That is realisable. But only if we can reach everyone and inspire support. Please help us. Please make a donation to our election fund.
