Scholarly funding for student with a disability

I was born and raised like any other child in the rural areas of Bangladesh. At the age of six, suddenly the Measles along with typhoid accompanied by incorrect medicine struck both of my eyes and left me as visually impaired. It was indeed a sudden blow to my early age, but the tragedy could not block my academic journey to earn a Master of social science major in sociology from the university of Dhaka; but fail to pursue graduate study because of the non-existence of reasonable accommodation services for students with disabilities in Bangladesh.

It is widely recognized that the people with disabilities rarely enjoy human rights comparable to their peers and are invisible to most of the communities in developing countries. Discrimination is exacerbated by stereo type negative attitudes, prejudice, ignorance and apathy of policy makers in the mainstream of the society. It is recognized that the work for people with disabilities struggling with multiple problems and limitations due to the dearth of trained human resources, development of finances, understanding the conceptual framework of reasonable accommodation for people with disabilities.

On completion of my PhD, I will be the first PhD holder among the people with disabilities of Bangladesh. In addition, my expertise will pitch in the efforts of Government and NGOs to promote and protect the human rights of people with disabilities and empower them to full enjoyment of civil, political, social, economic and cultural rights and advocate for innovative rehabilitation strategies and develop expertise in order to unlock the vast potential of millions of people with disabilities, who are denied access to education, rehabilitation, career opportunities and never garner any support to shine in the remote areas of Bangladesh.

I am enrolled for PhD program in the graduate school in New York and successfully completed three semesters with a good standing so far. But frustratingly, currently I am out of school only because of financial stringency to pursue my academic education at graduate level and research. I solicit your gracious financial support which, would enabled me to resume my graduate studies and research for promoting and plummeting services for empowering people with disabilities in developing countries.

The time frame to complete the study require another three years and five months beginning January-May 2019-22. The total amount of funds require is around $350,000.00. Most of the funds will be incurred mainly for attending course work, field level data collection and processing for final presentation. The fund will be defraying in the form of tuition fees for course work, books, equipment, educational materials and accessories, living expenses for 2019-2020 ($ 75,000.00) per year, total $150,000.00. 2021-22 field work, international travelling for data collection, compensation for interviewer, data processing, seminar, compilation and final presentation of doctoral dissertation approximately $2,00,000.00. The efforts of raising fund could continue until the target is achieved.

If you have any quarry regarding this issue, please do not hesitate to contact me immediately.
