Lemondrop Productions, Inc. is a 501c3 Charitable Non-Profit organization. We rescue all types of animals from abuse, neglect, going to the pound, slaughter or from being trafficked by local brokers.
Since 2002 we have been rescuing animals from various circumstances, including strays and termination candidates from pound/slaughter houses. In 2011 we incorporated as a non-profit so that we could solicit support from the local communities and companies to help us continue our work, of caring for, housing and feeding these animals. Since 2011 we’ve been able to take in roughly 100 animals in need, expanding to include farm and exotic animals as well as domesticated. Our current family includes: Donkeys, Miniature Pot-Belly pigs, Andulasian chickens, Americana chickens, Rhode-Island Red chickens, Sex-Link chickens, Barred-Rock chickens, mixed breed chickens, roosters, Bourbon Red Gobbler turkeys, Orphington ducks, Peking ducks, Cayuga ducks, Crested Blue Swedish ducks, Mandarin ducks, Chinese geese, Embden geese, Chinchilla mix breed, Flemish rabbits, Lop-eared rabbits, Californian rabbits, Dwarf-eared rabbits, American Rabbit, various breeds and mixes of cats and dogs. We are in the process of trying to rescue local donkeys and sheep that are no longer wanted.
Our goal is to provide a habitat for these animals as close as possible to their natural environment, therefore our sanctuary is OFF-GRID. Being off-grid means we use generators to give the energy to run water, lighting and anything that requires energy, including heat for our resident staff who live onsite.
We currently use fossil-fuel generators and need to switch to solar generators as quickly as possible. The tow MAIN reasons for the conversion is 1) Cost. Fueling the generators is extremely expensive, using nearly all of our finances on fuel and 2) Environmental. The noise and pollution from fossill-fuels DO NOT promote a natural habitat for our animal family. WE ARE REQUESTING DONATIONS TO CONVERT TO A SOLAR SYSTEM AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE.
The generous support and donations we receive helps us to move toward that goal. Besides from monetary donations, we are always in need of building materials including fencing, posts, paint, tin roofing material, feeding/watering troughs, snake-boots, work gloves, wood, nails, solar lighting (and generator), shelters/cages, mobile living space/rv for volunteers, timothy hay and or seed, seed for lettuce and carrots, pens and cages (to isolate injured/ill and new additions), storage bins and lids, propane, diesel and marine (ethanol-free for generators until solar conversion is complete) and of course non-medicated animal feed of all types.
The largest way we fund the animals is by providing monthly fundraisers to the local community. These fundraisers consist of live music, musical performance, acting, dancing, comedy skits and plays (depending on the theme). Most of our presentations are written by the participating staff members. We are looking to expand our fundraisers to miniature petting zoos; to show the community our work, and video blog/film.
We appreciate anything you can offer us. NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL. Many people giving small amounts will help us reach our goal! Even a dollar will help!
Thank you for your kind consideration!
