Swedish Organization for Global Health is a nonprofit organisation comprising of students and young professionals who share a passion to contribute to global health through evidence-based action. Our work focuses on neglect health topics, such as maternal, menstrual and dental health. With our local and international partners, we support projects both in Sweden and Uganda. Through events and online campaigns, we bring awareness about a broad spectrum of global health topics.
SOGH is turning five this autumn and to celebrate, we invite you to join us with a 5K PLOGGING RACE! Plog-what??? Plogging is that super fun activity, started in Sweden, that involves jogging while cleaning the environment. Basically, you run with your favourite trash bag and collect all the trash you find on your way. Sounds great right!!!
By participating in this green race, you will actively contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a collection of 17 global goals set by the UN, with targets by 2030. More specifically SDG 3: Good health and well-being and SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production. Plogging is a good way for us to remember that we should reduce our consumption and look after the environment as environmental pollution is one of the main contributors in many human diseases!
This a GLOBAL RACE! No matter where you are in the world, you will be able to participate. We want everyone to participate, no matter their physical abilities, this is a race for all types of feet and wheels. Finally, we want this to truly be an international effort, therefore you can decide the location of your plogging race! Keep track of your progress, post pictures online, and tag us on social media to share your efforts and check out your fellow racers.
There will also be prizes for the following:
1) Best picture
2) Most creative run
3) Largest team
(If you would like to be considered for and of the prizes above, please send us your picture/s at [email protected] by the 3rd of November, winners will be proclaimed on the 15th of November)
This is our biggest fundraiser yet and we would like you to help to expand our work, which means implementing our current projects and activities and starting new ones. Thank you and good plogging everyone ;)
We suggest a $5 donation as we are turning 5, but of course you are welcome to donate more!! The proceeds collected will help fund one of the following activities, which you can specify at the point of donation.
