I teach a series of short courses for undergraduates at the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus in Minsk. The primary aim of these courses is to familiarize students with the standard theories and methods used in the study of public administration in the West. There are a total of twelve students in my classes.
In the current course on qualitative research methods that I am
teaching at the Academy, I would very much like for the students to have
access to NVivo to assist them with learning qualitative data
analysis. In the short run, this would benefit them with specific
exercises in the course. NVivo
would also be of particular importance as the students begin work on
more in-depth research projects resulting in an undergraduate thesis to
be submitted at the end of spring term 2018.
Belarus, as you may know, has a rather low level of wealth -- less than 5000 USD per person. In the recent 2016 Credit Suisse Global Wealth Report, Belarus was placed in the lowest category, together with countries in central Africa and south Asia. Current monthly wages in Belarus still average below 500 USD per person, even by the Belarusian government's own estimates.
The courses that I teach at the Academy in Minsk are financed through
a variety of sources. The University of Gothenburg provides for my
travel expenses, the Academy in Minsk provides for basic accommodation,
and I have recently arranged for a modest textbook fund via the Karl
Staaffs Fund in Sweden allowing me to purchase students key textbooks
over the coming two years.
As I am sure you can imagine, the costs of NVivo are beyond what Belarusian students can afford. Thus, I am asking whether you could make a donation so that each of these twelve students could have a licensed copy of NVivo for the period March 2017 - June 2018.
The total funding amount requested is 12,000 Swedish kronor (approximately €1260 or $1360). Donations of all sizes are welcome, of course. This total amount does include the GoGetFunding fee plus transaction fees!
Naturally, if you have any questions about my teaching activities at the Academy in Minsk, please do not hesitate to contact me!
Many thanks!
