I would like to start a software development company and employ people who need a chance to prove themselves even if they don't have the right qualifications or any professional working experience. I am a software developer with 17 years experience in the I.T. industry. I am a self taught developer and do not have a university degree or diploma. The only reason I have gotten this far in my career is because someone believed in me a long time ago and gave me a chance, which is what I would like to do for others now.
My vision of the company is that people who need a chance to get into the industry can apply and work at the company until they have enough experience and professional confidence to find work at a big tech or other company. As long as they can do the work I am willing to employ them. Preference will go to people with disadvantaged backgrounds who have just left school.
The funds I need to get the company off the ground is for office space rental, internet, computers and furniture and salaries for the first year. My dream is that we can be self sufficient within one year. Employees will be encouraged to move on once they have been with the company for about 3 years. That should enable them to find more lucrative work with a big corporate and really begin their careers.
I have a very broad knowledge base as I have worked in different positions at companies throughout my career and I would like to teach my young employees what I know and will help them find their niche in the industry. For instance, when I started I didn't know if I wanted to develop software or if I wanted to be a systems/network administrator. I can help young fledglings make that choice.
