“The Nature-a Heritage for the Future" Association urgently needs your help!
Carmen, is an amazing and dedicated woman, who runs an animal shelter in Romania. The shelter has existed since 2003 and currently has 350 dogs, 45 cats and 5 rabbits - that takes a lot of work and effort to maintain daily. A lot of the work is done around the clock by 3 shift workers and the extra occasional workers when money allows.
But right now, being winter; the shelter is currently snowed in which makes life difficult and even more work and in most cases inaccessible. Many dog houses and their entrances are covered in a blanket of snow, someone or something needs to shift that snow to clean the area and feed the dogs etc. Just one of many daily tasks.
A snow blower would help to make the paths to the kennels and the entrances more accessible and also part of the street where supplies are delivered and access is needed. Carmen has inquired on a daily basis to have the street cleared so she can drive her car (and for other vehicles) up to the shelter - this is important, otherwise the car needs to be parked more than 250m away which in turn means all the heavy items for the animals, needs to be carried either by hand or wheelbarrow. A snow blower could potentially help create a path to make this easier and more possible. On top of this, another 100 or so dogs are looked after regularly in the fields and surrounding areas.
When the snow melts, it often causes the area to be waterlogged and flooded and needs to be removed for the health and safety of the animals and ease of cleaning the areas. A snow blower could potentially help to remove the excess snow and hopefully reduce the flooding that often follows.
A snow blower with a gasonline engine is required as the shelter doesn’t run on electricity, but a generator.
Please help us raise the needed funds (every little bit helps!) so Carmen can purchase a snow blower and start to make life a lot easier at her beautiful shelter!
