Snoopy our little darling broke her back

1ST MARCH 2017:

Our DARLING SNOOPY is a Dachshund doggie AND only 3 years old. She always greets us with a tail wag and a friendly smile whenever we see her. A sweeter dog I have never seen. A few days ago she started falling over from side to side. We took her to the vet and the vet said this was the case of a slipped disc meaning a surgery would most likely be required in order for our family member to regain her mobility.

We had no money even for the consultation (we were given credit) let alone surgery! Muscle relaxant tablets were given to us for her and we took her home. Little did we realise that time was of the essence and anyone who has experienced this problem with their Dachshund, needs to send them immediately for surgery as the disease progresses very quickly! Spinal surgery is urgently needed before further nerve damage happens waist down which will not only result in permanent paralysis but also death since the loss of bladder control will be toxic and fatal. A few days later we took her back to the vet again and he insisted we waste no time in operating immediately and referred us to an animal hospital that specialises in these kinds of operations as her health was spiraling downwards. Her legs by now had gone totally numb she could feel no pain and dragged them along. Either that or we put her down.

We decided to take her to an animal hospital in Pretoria - 90kms away - and a certain Professor had a look at her. His prognosis was bleak: put the dog down now or immediate surgery had to take place within the next hour with only a 12% success rate.

My blind mother started bawling her eyes out and that freaked me out so I told the Prof to book her into surgery. The problem is we do not have the money to collect her once they discharge her. Right now her operation has been completed and she undergoing therapy and "swimming pool exercises" and the nurse caring for Snoopy phones me on a daily basis to give me an update.

PLEASE look at the beautiful pics we took of Snoopy with the Prof - even when she was so ill she sat smiling on the examination table with him.
