To start off we would like to apologise that we do not have a group picture to show who we are as a Team. Also our english is not that good but we hope you understand what we trying to say with an open mind and a open heart.
We are 10 employees from a bar called Sneaker Cartel.
Since the Covid-19 started hitting South Africa it has had a negative impact on all of us. We have found it difficult to cope as we are receiving no form of funding at all from either the government or our jobs. When we were told to stop working it was so sudden it did not give us enough time to save up money or prepare ourselves. That was our only form of income. And as much as we regret it we have no other choice but to accept it for now.
We never expected this to happen and as a team we tried to help each other where we needed with the savings we had but since the lockdown has been extended we are no longer capable of doing so because all we had has depleted.
3 of our staff members are parents of 3-4 children. Their children depend on them and in this times as this was their only form of income they are now finding it very hard to put the next meal on the table. The government provides no more than $70 for each of the parents to support their kids PER MONTH. It Sounds ridiculous but it is the truth. The government only provides $23 per child per month.
5 of our staff are foreign nationals of the country. They have to depend on themselves with absolutely no assistance from the government what so ever. They are students that came to south africa to further their education but found themselves having to work because their parents are incapable of supporting them. As the lockdown came about they were given short notice and were unable to save up enough money to go back to their countries. They are now stuck here with no family member to help them but us as a team to support each other where we can.
2 of our staff stay with their parents but also are facing difficulties. Their parents are trying to make ends meet for them too and they do wish to support their parents and put a little relief on them.
South Africa has released different levels of our lockdown. With estimation, it has been said that we will only be reopening in October for the most. That is very scary for us as we don't know what the next few months hold for us.
We are seeking your assistance in anyway possible. Help us raise money so we can support each other and get back on our feet. The smallest amount will truly make a difference as we have completely nothing for ourselves.
Please consider us, we will appreciate it so much.
