Growing up, career choices were infrequently explored for me as I had an arms length approach to that daunting question of “what do I want to be?” or “what do I want to do with my life?” that we all face in our final secondary years. But what is clear is that I wanted to do so much more and solve many ills and challenges facing both business and society. It is with great critical skill that I interrupted the traditional thinking around my career and I invited myself to explore opportunities and solutions to my ambivalence. I have asked myself more critically about which solutions I want to instill in both business and organizational design. This imprint has been a catalyst to my attraction towards Informatics. Thus this decision and campaign.
Why Informatics and why now you may be wondering?
Well, with the pandemic introducing a long lasting overhaul of certain industries and skills, and the disruptions of technology gripping industries and work as well as the advantages and prospects of the 4IR being a vital fascination and prolonged passion of mine, I have understood that I want to render myself economically resilient using technology as well as integrated multidisciplinary analysis to transform both society and business.
Informatics as a multidisciplinary field lends itself completely to this objective and encompasses all that I intuitively aspire towards. As for the timing, there is no better time than now with COVID-19 having presented a great threat to deferred time and opportunity. What is compelling from this decision to pursue Informatics is that this investment coupled with my Economic Sciences background and the skills already in possession render me a potent potential and presents a mix of hybrid opportunities.
In my undergraduate years while pursuing the Economic Sciences degree, I lacked a language for a career that integrated both technical and soft skills to solve complex business and organizational problems. Akin to this was the important interplay between user end experiences and technologies in providing these highly sought after solutions.
Economic Sciences will continue to leapfrog me into providing crucial opportunities and settings that are informed by a combination of factors like how business cycles for the increasingly data embedded world and digital economy are adapting to make business models more resilient and characteristically viable and efficient.
My current economic sciences background has allowed me to be a solutions provider in the development finance space as well as the capital markets industries. I’ve qualified my mind to provide data-based, real time and actionable shareholder intelligence and economic analysis of equity performance for the C-suite. Further, I’ve in the past designed financial products to meet the needs and scope of SMEs to scale and expand.
But I need your help and support getting there. I’ve set up a fundraiser in a bid to raise crucial funds towards my educational goal. I have personally allocated $200 of my own funds to secure this opportunity. The funds raised will cover tuition, textbooks and study related materials.
