I Want To Go To School

Hello There,

My name is Herman Gitonga (Tosh) and I am an aspiring Sound Engineer from/in Nairobi, Kenya. My dream is to use good quality live sound to be part of the ever-growing positive change in Nairobi, and Africa!

I have been accepted into SAE, a film and Sound Engineering Institute based in Johannesburg South Africa to study a 2 year course in Sound Production.

My first encounter with live sound was at my local church. What stood out to me was how the person at the back (sound guy) with the mixing console evoked different emotions by bridging what is on stage and what the audience hears and feels, allowing them the freedom of expression. I have had the opportunity to work with musicians in various genres:

• IziBongo (Worship Band from Texas)
• Sarafina - The Musical
• Shamsi Music (Jazz and Afro-Jazz fusion Band)
• Nairobi Orchestra (Classical)
• Silayio ( Pop )
• Worship Choirs ( Mamlaka Hill Chapel and Karen Vineyard )

Through my immeasurable love for sound, I want to keep contributing to my community’s special memories through music. Will you join me on this journey?
