God bless the people in this platform!

My name is Jerelyn J. Cruz, I am 41 years old and I presently live in a small community here in the Philippines.

My family includes our three kids previously lives in a city where everybody knows about , the place visited by the Super Typhoon Haiyan. Living in the city is very costly knowing the competition at work or in business aside from the high cost of living, a rented place to live and everything is not free. We have a small computer shop that didn’t work well and it causes us to just close.

Because of this, my husband decided to bring us to his parent’s house where nobody lives in the province. This is to lessen our expenses , no house rent and no water bill and this is where we live now. We transferred here last October 2019. It is a sea side community where fishing is the main source of living while others are earning from the local tourist spot just with in the baranggay. We bring with us our internet shop materials and continue with it here as a source of living. To help my husband, I loaned a freezer and started supplying ice to the fish local broker.

Last December 2019, during the night of Christmas eve, a typhoon named Ursula hit this province and wiped out almost all coastal baranggay and it didn’t spare us. Our house was only partially damaged but the typhoon ruined our business, the computer shop and the ice market. No fisherman’s houses, no boats and no income. Because of this, we are so affected, no customer in the computer shop, no fish brokerage, and so everything has stopped. People are busy in the restoration of the place. About 2 months after this, small boats were produce by some and managed to catch fish. This way of survival continued little by little until now. Second week of March, our President announced a national lock down because of the Corona Virus.

For us to survive in this situation, we have to think of an alternative way to earn, to have another business that needs almost at least $6000. Is a big amount and we can’t find it easily. Me and my husband decided to have a Boat instead and at the same time we will grow Rabbits. But we don’t have money to start up this plan. I am challenging myself to find a job on the internet that will somehow pay dollars to be able to do this until I found about this site that gives funding to needy people so here I am.

Why BOAT?

This is a boat that we hope to have. Something like this size is enough.

It’s because we are near to the sea and fishing is free and a good source anytime if the weather is good. This boat will support our daily needs like food and the bills. At the same time, we can help two families of fisherman. They can go fishing alternately. We will just divide the income into 3, One part for the boat expenses, the fisherman and us the owner. If we earn more for every night fishing we will add up to our rabbit farm capital. We need this source to feed our family while nurturing the farm.

What we need and How much?

We need $600 to buy a complete set fishing boat. It includes the engine and nets and all accessories and ready to go fishing.

The rest of the funds will be used to start a small Rabbit Farm. To buy at least 10 Doe female rabbit and 5 bucks (male rabbit) and to make starter cage and a breeding cage.

Why Rabbitry?

Rabbits are lovable as pets, but what we can do? Rabbit is a good choice of business nowadays. Rabbit meat is highly recommended by doctors as a good substitute for meat choice. It has a low fat,low cholesterol and high in protein. Given by the hospital to cancer patients’ diet thus giving this industry a high demand on the coming days. I hope that I can be of help to my community with this kind of business, because even a woman can grow and breed rabbit. And it look like something like this as a start. Rabbit farming requires little space and can be done in the farm, backyard, or even a small space at home.

My Business Plan

Right after receiving the fund, we will make a cage. In 1 week time, the starter farm is ready. In less than 2 months or 60 days, the number of rabbit is expected to be at least 40 pieces. On the 4rt month after the set up, my plan is to release 10 pairs for 10 persons. Monthly I can release 10 pairs to the community who wants to grow rabbits. In this way for the meantime I don’t need a big farm to grow and less manpower to pay. In return for their work, I can buy their produce and consolidate it together to sell to the big markets. What I mean of big markets are hospitals, restaurants and companies making a frozen products.

In preparation with this, I will ask for the help of our local government to give the community a proper knowledge like seminars and training. And also help us to have more markets. The skin and fur of the rabbits can also be process by the community young adults for handicrafts and this is another kind of income hopefully to help student have a source of income even in their house.

By the way, I will not run for a local government position. I just want to have a business and give a good living to my family even away from the city specially this time that corona virus is spreading in the world however we don’t want this to have more spreading. I will be happy doing my passion in business and seeing my community in harmony with my plan and the best of my capacity.

Thank You for reading my story and Please Support me on my plan with your donations. Your big heart will be my hope to start a new venture in business in this small community.

Praying for grace,

Jerelyn from the Philippines
