Read this! Share this! It´s about SmåBUS. Because children's literature matters!
SmåBUS organizes a brilliant international Children's Book Festival in Småland (Sweden). Established writers and illustrators from different countries meet each other. Wonderful lectures, workshops and networking happen here, all in the spirit of Astrid Lindgren.
We need funding to keep going.
This is why:
RegionJönköping, in the heart of Småland, decided that SmåBUS is no longer a priority. We don't get any support from them. And that is awful.
It is simple: we did everything right but we are no longer a priority. Children's literature is no longer a priority.
Politicians complain about the lack of literacy skills, but children's literature is no longer a priority.
SmåBUS rocks, you all know that! So we don't give up. Among other things, we start with our own merchandising. Beautiful notebooks and sketchbooks with illustrations of fantastic SmåBUS illustrators! Please buy them! And if you have a shop, please sell them there too!

SmåBUS 2020 will be SmåBUS 2021 - Covid 19 update
Update posted by Joke Guns at 10:08 amWe have to inform you, with deep regret, that even SmåBUS cannot escape the consequences of Covid-19.We have therefore decided to move our international children's literature conference from 3-5 July 2020 to 2-4 July 2021.Virtually all our speakers have confirmed their participation for next year. The programme remains therefore essentially. . . . .

Dag Joke, Ik kom dit jaar niet naar Smabus, maar ik maak het inschrijfgeld als gift aan je over omdat ik het hartstikke dapper van jullie vind dat jullie zo stug volhouden, ondanks de recente financiële tegenslag. Het is maar een druppel op de gloeiende plaat, maar alle beetjes helpen, denk ik dan maar. Heel veel succes en hopelijk ook plezier met de voorbereidingen en op het festival. Niet te veel stress, diep ademhalen en af en toe een frisse duik in het sjö van Nömmen en je kunt er weer tegen :). Dikke knuffel, Anneriek
