I must be feeling very brave, because on 12th April 2013, I will be doing a 2 mile high skydive to raise money for two causes which mean a lot to me. I'll be honest, I'm pretty nervous, but I hope that by challenging myself to jump out of a plane, I can help others to make a difference :)

Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital is well known for the amazing treatment and care that it gives to children across the country. However, in the last year, it has become a lot more important to me, because in April 2012, my friend Ruth gave birth to a beautiful daughter, Imogen. She was born with a condition called Tetralogy of Fallot, and was taken to GOSH for heart surgery in the days following her birth. I am happy to say that my skydive will mark exactly a year from when Imogen had her first operation at Great Ormond Street. I know it must have been a huge comfort for Ruth and Dan to know that their little girl was in the best possible hands, and that she was to get the treatment she needed - which was successful, and Imogen is growing up fast! In support of Ruth and Dan, and to add to the incredible total that they have already raised for GOSH, I would like to put half of the money which I raise from my skydive to add to their total to support Great Ormond Street and allow them to continue the fantastic work which they do, helping both children and their parents.

The other half of the money which I raise, I would like to give to Watoto Wema Centre in Kenya - a children's centre and orphanage where I volunteered for two weeks last summer. Having seen first hand the way the 77 children are cared for, taught, and looked after, I would love to be able to take the money which I raise back over to them when I return this summer. Watoto Wema provides a safe place for children to live, schooling, and day care, and the staff are inspirational people who are really committed to caring for the children. I am so excited to return, and I know that the money which I can raise from my skydive will really go a long long way to helping the children of Watoto Wema. I would love to be able to give these children every opportunity which I have had, and will have, so any amount which I can give to them to improve their lives, enable their schooling, healthcare, and leisure, will be hugely appreciated.

So please, give as much or as little as you can to support me in this personal challenge and fundraising effort. I have paper sponsorship forms if you are unable to give online, but any amount you can give will really go a long way to improving the lives of children both in this country, and in Kenya. I will be funding the cost of the skydive myself, so every penny I raise will go to Great Ormond Street and Watoto Wema Centre

Thank you so much :)

Eve xxx
