SJW Educational Foundation (SJWEF) is a non-profit organization that provides educational assistance to less-fortunate pupils in Liberia. Since 2015 to present, we have and continue to render assistance to over 30 pupils in various primary schools in Bong County.
Liberia is one of the least-developed countries with an unemployment rate of 2.40%. Liberia underdevelopment has been attributed to its 14-year civil war, uneven distributions of national resources, and bad governance, among other things. These circumstances have led to increase in abject poverty among the citizenry. Liberia has recorded a current account deficit of 15.80% of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2017. Current account to GDP in Liberia averaged -24.85% from 1979 until 2017, reaching an all-time high of 8.91% in 1981 and a record low of -64.70% in 2011. Liberia is recording a current account deficit with strong imports, low exports, low saving rates, and high personal consumption rates. The government ineptitude to tackle these economic crises have created unbearable living conditions and have resulted in unemployment, poor educational system and lack of a good health care system. Consequently, most parents are unable to provide the needed educational supports for their kids to achieve quality education.
As a way of contributing to the dying economic system, the SWJEF is striving to compensate less-fortunate pupils. We believe that by improvising the requisite materials , these kids can realize their full potentials. Also, by this we hope to contribute immensely to the growth and development of Liberia - since a vibrant education serves as a catalyst for the growth and development of any nation.
Presently, we provide stationery, back bags, etc, to over 30 learners in various primary schools in Bong County, Liberia. In the upcoming academic year (2019/2020), we intend to increase the number of beneficiaries to over 50 pupils and further provide tuition aids for them. We anticipate extending our humanitarian aids to other less-fortunate kids in the country. Hence, as part of our vision to reach every Liberian child, we kindly request your donation of any kind: money, stationery, computer, back bags, etc. to empower us to meet some of our current and future goals.
