Sisak-Moslavina County Earthquake Relief Fund

After the devastating Zagreb earthquake series, of which the strongest one was 5.4 in magnitude that happened on 22^nd of March 2020, we have witnessed another series of brutal ground-shaking events but this time 30 km away from Zagreb in Sisak-Moslavina County.

The cities of Petrinja, Sisak and Glina were hit the most with the series of earthquakes that began yesterday on 28^th of December 2020 at 6:28 in the morning with the strongest one of 5.2 in magnitude. As the day passed, people were starting to recover from the blast and help was on the way. Suddenly, the next day on the 29^th of December 2020 the same cities were hit with another earthquake of 6.2 in magnitude that completely devastated them as they were destroyed in a bombing attack.

The expected cost of rebuilding damaged cities will be in billions of euros, therefore any financial donation is really appreciated!

The strongest earthquake was felt in all the Croatia neighboring countries and below is the earthquake information report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).

During the day and at the time of writing this crowdfunding request to help those in need we have witnessed a series of smaller earthquakes ranging from 3.0 to 4.4 in magnitude.

The Sisak-Moslavina County is one of the most underdeveloped regions of Croatia meaning that the economic situation of its residents is NOT on the level of sustaining this big burden by themselves. Therefore, people are in need of financial and non-financial help.

As you can imagine and see on the pictures in this crowdfunding relief help-seeking post, houses are destroyed, walls have been damaged and many of them will wait for a long time to be able to return to their original homes. During that time, they will need financial help to not only survive and find temporary shelter but the most important of all to rebuild their homes.

Donation Process

1.Identifying those that are in need the most

Connecting with the most devastating households will be the main goal of this campaign. By doing that we will be able to proportionally distribute received funds raised in the full amount.

2.Distribution of funds

Received funds will be given to the people in need of rebuilding their homes in any way that will help them return as soon as possible.

3.Community update on a regular basis

Every aspect of this campaign will be shared with the donors and supporters on the GoGetFunding page to keep everyone updated.

Who is Behind This?

We are a couple (Ivan & Monika) from Zagreb that is finding ways to help those struck by this natural disaster. Therefore, we believe in the swift help of the GoGetFunding community as well as all others that have a heart for those in need such as this one. Furthermore, the fundraising team will take neither compensation nor fees from this campaign.

This fundraising event will last for a week till the 5^th of January 2021.
