My name is Pastor Albino Quinones, located in Indianapolis, IN.

I have had the privilege of knowing Claudia Evangelista who was a beloved saint who went to be with the Lord today March 9, 2015 after a battle with Colon Cancer. At just 28 years of age, she leaves behind, to embrace her memory, her loving husband, Sandy Puentes, her sons, 10 year old , Valentin and 2 year old, Gael. At such a young age, she went to be with the Lord and she is no longer suffering from the pain caused by her illness.

At the age of 18, Claudia Evangelista immigrated from Mexico and relocated to Indianapolis, IN. Her husband, Sandy Puentes also immigrated to Indianapolis, IN from Cuba at the age of 18 years old after living in Florida for several of years. They met at their place of work, Finish Line. After a few years of friendship, they were married.

Claudia had two sons, Valentin and Gael who brought joy to her life and the lives of her family. Claudia was a very active person who was involved in our congregation. Claudia was a strong Christian woman who loved God and his word which is reflected in her family and the legacy she leaves behind. Her cancer was discovered when her mother was feeling ill and Claudia went with her mother to the hospital. She had been feeling under the weather and was experiencing some stomach pain. The mother encouraged her to be seen by a doctor, so she and her mom were seen at the same time and that is the moment, she was told that she had Stage 4 cancer.

Claudia was diagnosed with colon cancer, which is not common for a person to have at such a young age. From the first moment of hearing her terminal diagnosis, Claudia kept her faith in Lord. She was a very strong woman and a spiritually oriented person who always trusted in the Lord. Along her husband and kids, she always kept God within her heart and put her trust in him.

After months of treatment in the hospital, she was able to go home to be with her family, receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments as an outpatient. Even with all of the treatments, Claudia continued to be an active participant in her church, several times she went in a wheelchair, and in that wheelchair she worshiped the Lord with all her heart, and continued to worship and praise God through her trials and tribulations. In one occasion, my wife took her to the hospital to get her radiations, as waiting for the car in front of the hospital, Sister Claudia had her eyes closed and she was speaking in a lower tone of voice.

Her mother asked her if she was ok and what did she need, Claudia continued to speak but her mother did not understood her, so my wife realized that something was going on, and she get very close to Claudia, to see what she was speaking. As soon as my wife was closed to her she immediately heard she was speaking in other tongues as the spirit gave utterance. As my sister was standing next to her she had her hand on her shoulder and felt electricty shot as Sis. Claudia was speaking in tongues. It was the power of God with her in every moment of her life.

After months of outpatient treatment, she was transferred to hospice care. While in hospice care, Claudia was united in holy matrimony with her husband, Sandy Puentes, in a service officiated by me.  This was a very lovely celebration of love in which Claudia was able to enjoy a memorable moment in her final days. It was a wish she had been dreaming to have since she was married only through civil court. This special dream was able to be fulfilled in their life.

Unfortunately during her time in hospice, Claudia and Sandy experienced another heartbreaking loss. To ensure that funds would be available when the time came, they had separated their meager funds to cover the cost of the funeral expenses. Someone discovered the money and took all of the funds intended for her funeral in the sum of $6,000.00. This was yet another tragedy for their family. It is amazing that after all that this family has experienced that someone would further cause injury by taking from them. I am a strong believer that God has everything under control and will provide for this family in need.

We are humbly asking for your financial support to aid this family in providing a proper burial service for such a loving woman and sister in Christ. She leaves behind her 2 young sons, her loving husband and family to mourn and honor her memory.

Any help for this family is greatly appreciated and will surely result in a blessing from God for your generosity during this tragic time. We ask for you to not only help financially but also continue to lift this family up in prayer as they lay a loved one in their final resting place.

In Christ,
