Single parent volunteering with 12 year old son

Hi! In September I'm planning to take my 12 year old son on a great journey. I'm a single mom and low on money, but I really want to give him this experience. My son has had some difficulties over the years but is now in a good place developmentally and I believe this journey will be life changing for him, and I also hope it will inspire him to do something good for the world in years to come. The first half of the trip we will work as volunteers in India, the main job will be to educate 3-6 year old children and to help the local community. The second half of the trip will find place in Indonesia, as my son is partly Indonesian. I would love to show him the culture and take him to his roots. I took a chance and emptied my accounts buying plane tickets because this felt like an important mission. Kind of stupid when I look at it now, because the wallet is empty and we still need to eat, sleep etc. But if its meant to be it is, and if we are really lucky this will help us on the way.
