My name is Kimley Armour, and I am 46 years old who has been living on her own for five years. When I was in grade school, I had both a learning difference and delayed language development. I became a loner due to ableism. Success did not come easy for me due to ableism. I have been in between jobs worked both part and full-time jobs. Despite having overcome both learning differences and delayed language development, I graduated out of high school with Cum Laude. I attended college and received an Associate, Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees. I was unable to obtain employment in the field of degrees earned. I landed my first job as a security guard from Michigan Rehabilitation Services. Throughout my adult life, landing a good paying job was very challenging for me. I learned to drive an automobile, utilized public transportation, and budgeting my finances without assistance. In 2009, I fell on hard times before graduating with a Master of Science in Administration of Justice and Security.

In 2010, I applied for Food Assistance and Medical through the government. I was no longer able to afford my Ford Focus and voluntarily gave up the car. I became depressed due to my being a college educated that can’t find work versus people without higher education. I continuously strive to find employment, and my family and I clashed because I wasn't able to contribute financially to their household.

I sought professional help at a mental health facility to obtain services for supported employment and housing. I didn’t want to move out until I was financially able. It was a tough decision because of my mental state. I had to put my mental health first. I was able to land my first apartment without income. God was in the midst of it all. I worked part-time jobs to support myself. I attended Customer Service Training and completed successfully. I held my first part-time customer service professional working for Elite Business Solutions.

The situation was short-lived when I started working part-time for the Neighborhood Service Organization as a Peer Support Specialist. I resigned due to unable to support myself as a single woman. I gave Elite Business Solutions one more try but failed due to my father being terminally ill. He passed away last year after I moved to my second apartment and blessed me a gift. It helped me out and able to pay any outstanding balances and my credit improved dramatically. I started a business and maxed out on credit card from my company, Simple Earthy LLC. I was still unable to obtain full-time employment and been living off my checking and savings to support myself from the gift received from my late father. I am raising funds to improve my standard of living and to create a better future for myself. The money will be spend on past due state tax, household expenses, and outstanding balances on my bills.
