We are Kamae, Cesar, James, and Adam, and we are the Aguilar Family. In 2013, we moved from Manila to start a small farm and live in the rural community of Silangan, San Narciso, Victoria, Oriental Mindoro. While living there, we have shared some of our time and resources with the intention of enriching the lives of the children living in our neighborhood. We had art workshops, storytelling, movie nights, parlor games, lots of play, and in some weekends, we were also able to provide food.
After a few years, Cesar, the dad in the family, landed a teaching job and we had to move somewhere closer to where he works. However, our hearts still beat for the children of Silangan. Since our farmhouse has been vacant, we had the idea to convert it into a small library and learning center. In this way, we can continue serving the young people of the community by providing school supplies, art materials, books, storytelling activities, livelihood projects, health and hygiene training, a consistent feeding program, etc. More than anything else, we would like to offer our home as a safe place where kids can play and as a stimulating environment where they can grow and enjoy a happy and healthy childhood.
In this light, we would like to ask for your support as we build the Silangan Library and Learning Center.
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts!
