Sight of Hope for Gabriel

Gabriel Cruz, from Calapan, Mindoro, came to Manila because he was promised a job. But his job recruiter just abused him. Not long after he came to Manila, his right eye contracted cataract, which left the eye totally blind. His left eye also shows symptoms of cataract. He could barely see now. He lost his job at a restaurant as dishwasher because of his condition. Nobody wanted to hire him anymore. He once went to the Philippine General Hospital to have his eyes checked and hopefully have it operated on, but the procedure would entail huge amount of money, which he didn't have.

He now roams the streets in Makati's central business district, begging for food, sleeping in parks or on the cold sidewalk near McDonald's at Greenbelt. You will see him near the Greenbelt chapel, waiting for someone to take pity on him.

All Gabriel wants is to have his eyes operated on, so he can see again and get a job. Or, if it's not possible, he wants to go back to Mindoro. He needs at least 3 thousand bucks to reach the place he calls home.
