Sierra Madre Reforestation Though Strategic Transplant and Repropagation of Tree Species

Good Day to All,

We, a Small Science, Technology and Engineering Startup Company are starting a movement called The Re-Genesis Philippines Initiative #RPInitiative.

It is a movement which aims to help our country, the Pearl of the Orient Seas in the advancement of the Filipino people, specifically in the fields of Safety, Environment, Security, Opportunity, Health, Food, Clean Water, Shelter and Education.

This movement is going to be composed of multiple projects to help achieve these goals with Everyone's Help through crowdfunding. This will be a non-profit initiative with the funds going to be fully dedicated in the project and will be use for the time, expenses and other things that shall be needed in order to achieve these goals.

This Fundraising Campaign shall focus on Environment and Conservation with the Project aiming to Transplant and Re-propagate the Trees of the Sierra Madre Mountains.

The Project is Titled Sierra Madre Reforestation Through Strategic Transplant And Re-propagation of Trees (S.Ma.R.T.S.T.A.R.T) which aims to rehabilitate parts of the mountain ranges.

The campaign fund shall be used to acquire plants that shall be beneficial for the rehabilitation of damaged areas of the mountains, with each of them separated into three groups the Vanguard, Middle Guard, and Rear Guard with different purposes in mind.

The Vanguard - The faster and more resilient plant species that will help condition the areas and protect the slower growing plants in the lineup.

The Bamboo Plant, these are resilient grasses that has rapid growth rate. These plants has root systems that cover a huge amount of area and bind them with their grass preventing soil corrosion. They also have anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties that could help prevent the less resilient plants against diseases. They are also selected to provide shelter from the elements as the slower Middle Guard and Rear Guards grow providing cover from winds and harsh sunlight of the mountains.

Philippine Neem Tree, similar to bamboo has the ability to grow quickly and absorb a lot of water. It also has running roots that cover a lot of ground protecting steep areas from soil corrosion. It also has anti-bacterial and insecticide properties that can protect the sensitive plants from unwanted pests.

Tabog Tree, a citrus tree used as natural barrier against the elements. It has good citrus scent but non-edible fruits.

The Middle Guard - The Main Protected Flora of the Sierra Madre, the ones that needs protection and re-propagation

The Narra, the National Tree of the Philippines, the one of the main trees native to the Philippines.

Almaciga/Dayungon, a tree that is under endangered status, with a few remaining even in the Sierra Madre mountains, this plant is one of the protected species that we aim to be protected and propagated.

Kamagong, another tree under endangered status, a fast growing tree that bears fruit and being slowly forgotten. Its known for its dark timber and velvety edible fruits.

Dendrobium Aclinia - An endemic specie of orchids in the Sierra Madre that hopefully be propagated to increase its population

Milletia longipes - A leguminous tree specie in the Sierra Madre with plans of propagation

The Rear Guard - Supporting Crops that can be provided as cover to protect the soil

Moras a grass that grows its roots directly down towards the soil, it can absorb a lot of water and survive being submerged in water. It has a root system that intertwines with other crops and can be used to protect the downstream rivers of the Sierra Madre

Aside from acquiring the plants, we're thinking of a strategy in which each the trees shall be planted in a grid pattern with certain distances to properly distribute the plants and cover a bigger area without limiting the ability of each plant to grow out.

The Vanguards shall then be cut down or transplanted in the future when the Middle Guards are stable and mature and in need of more growing spaces.

The plan will also involve an aerial survey using drones to check out the rough patches of the Sierra Madre in both Rizal and Central Luzon Sides to plot out the locations most in need of rehabilitation.

The donations given will be enough to cover this project, and excess funds shall be kept to fund the next reforestation campaign in this initiative.
