Sidneys

Thursday, September 1st 2016 turned Soukie and Nikone's Phetdaovieng life upside down. Their precious and only daughter, Sidney,15 years old , was healthy and talented and full of life. Sidney was scheduled to start her sophomore year at Las Vegas Academy as a straight A student and excellent guitar player.

Suddenly and with absolutely no previous health condition Sidney began having seizures late August of 2016.

September 1st 2016 Sidney was having a seizure in the car, Nikone rushed her to the emergency room at UMC Medical center where the doctors started fighting for her life. After 2 weeks of undergoing extensive tests, sadly their daughter was diagnosed with a very rare but severe case of an autoimmune condition called "NMDA RECEPTOR ENCEPHALITIS ".

Sidney was immediately induced in a coma, the medical team started and are still aggressively treating her with a chemotherapy drug(ritukimab) , steroids, IVIG and plasmapheresis. Specialists are trying desperately to decelerate this disease from deteriorating her from within.

Sidney can no longer walk, talk, eat, stand or sit. She is still on a respirator and has had a tracheotomy to help her breath on her own for a few hours every day before going back on a respirator...

For over 3 months now, Sidney is still fighting for her life in the ICU unit here in Las Vegas.

Sidney's parents SOUKIE & NIKONE PHETDAOVIENG (who work at the Wynn in table games )are completely heartbroken that Sidney has to go thru this. Their beautiful family life has been shattered.
Many people have been asking what they can do to help.
First, please keep praying for this family and specifically for Sidney and the healing of her body.
Second, unfortunately the fight to heal and the care to save Sidney's life comes to a cost. A cost that is adding up quickly. If you can help ease some of the financial burden to help this family you can donate here.
This money will go to help with the medical costs and the unknown number of days and weeks away from work.
Both parents Nikone and Soukie have exhausted all vacation from work. Both have taken leaves to be with Sidney 24/7. Nikone her father has recently returned to work to keep the wheels turning . This is very difficult to do when you have to choose between paying the bills or being there for your child, as devoted parents they want to be by their daughters side every second for when she wakes up. After intensive care Sidney will also need months of rehabilitation so she can return to a normal teenager again.
