Sickle the Cycle Campaign

The Sickle the Cycle campaign is an effort to raise awareness on sickle cell disease. Sickle cell disease is a genetic disorder- which means it is present at birth. The primary symptom is excrutiating pain that the person with the illness has to deal with all his/her life, since their is no universal cure. The pain is the result of red blood cells in the body changing from a round to cresent form, which makes them get stuck in the blood vessel. In addition to pain, organ damage, strokes, joint damage, and eye problems are common. Many kids with sickle cell ,outside of the U.S., die before their 5th birthday, because of the complications. The life expectancy in the U.S. is only to around 40 years old.

Funds raised will go to promoting genetic testing to test for the trait that passes on the disease, as well as initiatives to help those with sickle cell. You can be the change for a new life and a new purpose for people who suffer from the chronic disease. Thank you!
