Hi my name is Rebecca and i am currently studing a degree in Psychology at the university of Hull. At the end of my 3rd year (june 2015) i will be travelling to Shri Lanka to take part in an opportunity of a life time for me. This trip is 5 weeks, in where i am volunteering. In this 5 weeks i will be working hands on in psychiatric hostpitals, doing craf fairs, fun days, theraputic workshops and studiing those who are suffering from schizopherina, bipolar and depression. Here i will gain hands on experience of aspects of psychology i have stuudied in my degree. Along with this i will also teach young children who have learning difficulutes english (reading, writing, and speaking). Below is a tiimetable i will be working till while i am there. Along with the above i will also be taking part in seminars run by clinical psychologists, lectures and reports. This trip is going to cost £2000 which i am looking to raise so that i can go on the trip. How it will help? With volunteering it will help greatly with the patients i will be working with. As a team we will be able to make the road to recovery more fun. We will be providing better care, and social support with no extra cost to the hostpitals. Patients will be given theraputic workshops that will help individual symptoms and allow for  them to interact and give them support that would only come at a high cost. Young children will benifit a lot for the volunteer scheme as teaching them english knowlage and skills will give them skills needed for later life and boost there acedemic prefomace. They will be given the same chance as every other child should be given even with learning difficultes. It will over all improve patients care and incoporating fun activities into helping them. For me this trip will help greatly in my education. Studing psychology i have insight to schizophrenia, bipolar and depression, but to go on this trip would give me excellent hands on knowlage and increase my experince and prepare me for further study and jobs. It would increase my basic knowlage of cultural aspects of the trip and would be a great opportunity for me. Why you should get involved. To be able to go on this trip would mean the absolute world to me. It is a life time opportunity to be given. I would learn so much about the culture and be able to actually put to work all i have learnt through out my 3 year degree. I will be given the opportunity to interact with different people and widen my knowlage of psychology. It would give me the relevant work experience in order to apply for my further education or gain a job in the area. Over all it would be amaizing to go, and would be an experience i could not gain here in the UK. I love helping and gain a reward from helping others, and to be able to work with those with psychological disorders would give me a sense of pride. Knowing that i am helping and providing better care for those who need it more. thank you for taking the time to read this, i will be so greatful for any help recived. It would mean the world for me and will benifit me and thoses who i will be helping. I cant thank anyone enough for the help i recieve :) thank you all so much. Becky
