Jordan a country with so much history and beauty, often overlooked and avoided due to its location in the Middle East, is an oasis of peace and stability in a region filled crisis and is country that has been known for its warmth and hospitality to its visitors. Sadly, these regional crises have heavily impacted Jordan's tourism , causing the numbers of travelers visiting the kingdom to fall. I have lived in Petra ,one of the new Seven Wonders of the World, an area where a lot of families rely on tourism as a source of income . I have seen first-hand how these people who work in the tourism have been affected.
Jordan, as mentioned, is home to the ancient city of Petra -which is . a place that without question should be on your bucket list!- In the Northwest of Jordan, in the city of Jerash you could find one of the best preserved Roman cities outside of Italy. Jordan also has natural treasures such as Wadi Rum a place with an amazing landscape, where several movies have been filmed such as The Martian, Star Wars Rogue One and Transformers. In the South, there is Feynan Ecolodge which according to National Geographic is one of the world’s best ecolodges.
This year the Jordan Trail Association will be organizing a thru-hike which will is a nearly country long walking trip across Jordan, that will take over 40 days to complete and will cover 650 km, starting off in the North of the country in Um Qais, an ancient Greco- Roman city, and ending in Aqaba a coastal city on the Red Sea, along the way we will pass by many Jordanian villages and also sites such as Petra, Wadi Rum and Dana.
I hope to take this opportunity making videos highlighting the beauty of the country as i go form the north the south, and I will hopefully encountering travelers visiting Jordan who will express just how welcome and safe they felt in Jordan during their visit. I will share these videos to make Jordan more known to the world and let them know how special this country is.
I would like to ask for your support to help cover the costs of this amazing journey and costs of the things I will need in order to make the most of the trip. Around 5 months after finishing this journey. I hopefully will be taking an important exam, the foreign pharmacy graduate equivalency exam in the US. I hope this trip can really and give me spirit lifting, and also the mental and physical strength I need to prepare for this exam. And I want to be honest with the supporters. If there happens to be money left not spent on the trip I will hopefully use it to make sure that after the trip I can focus more on preparing for my exam and not financial distractions and lastly whatever I don’t use I will be giving for a college student.
