Show Your Love to Jackie (a Muscular Dystrophy Patient)

Dear kind souls,

Recently, I find myself going in and out of the hospital more frequently as I vomited blood more often, having heart pain and getting breathless easily. Being a muscular dystrophy patient, I have often experience muscle weakness in my legs causing me to fall down, unable to get up from bed or seat, and struggle to dress myself as I did not have strength to lift up my hands. I always have to ask people for help to lift me up after I fell down, after toileting, transferring or when dressing myself.

Being a muscular dystrophy patient, I find it extremely hard to secure a job after every-time I declared to the interviewer that I am diagnosed with muscular dystrophy.

A marriage with a monster had turned my life into a nightmare for a duration of 10 years. She was fully aware of my disability and leveraged on my disability to her advantage. Whenever she could not agree with my opinions, she would start to physically and verbally abuse me, a disabled person who was unable to defend myself, by (1) slapping my mouth and nose hard multiple times, causing them to bleed; (2) banging my head against the wall repeatedly; (3) piercing or cutting me using a precision knife with the intention to make me bleed and feel pain that left scars all over my body; and (4) purposefully kicking and tripping me to fall such that I could not escape from her abuse, such as making me fall with the back of my head hitting the uneven pavement before slapping and punching me knowing that I could not get up without any help from anyone.

She would also sometimes (1) threaten to kill me with a knife; or (2) point the knife to my son, implying that she would kill him if I did not comply; or (3) open the window and threaten to throw my son out of the window (my residence is a condominium); or (4) forced me to kill my son by throwing him out of the window or stabbing him with a knife.

Her family members would cheer her up and join in to continuously insult and humiliate me as a handicap / one legged person while she was abusing me. Over this course of marriage, she and her family members extorted money from and leeched on me. She also disallowed me to seek treatment for my critical illness as she felt that it was expensive, and the money should be spent to buy luxury items for her instead.

Finally, I decided to end this toxic and abusive relationship by telling her that I want to divorce her as I wish to seek medical and psychological treatments for my muscular dystrophy, depression, suicidal thoughts and cognitive dissonance as a result of her past abusive and possessive behaviours and actions towards me. Nonetheless, instead of agreeing to my unilateral divorce, she vowed to destroy me at all cost since she cannot keep me in her life.

After I commenced the divorce proceedings, she spread malicious defamatory and derogatory statements about me and made her Facebook posts viral online to destroy and dox me, causing all my students to instantly stop taking music lessons from me and hence my income was reduced to zero (I am a music teacher who teaches violin, piano and guitar).

I had incurred a hefty amount of legal fees due to her defamatory actions and our ongoing divorce lawsuit, and I took multiple bank loans and even borrowed from my friends to survive, amounting to a total of SGD $350,000. In addition, my ongoing medical fees from NNI and IMH are piling up and I need money to go for my surgery soon.

It is too painful for me go through this kind of life with my weak body and also experience these recurring nightmares of how I was being abused by her and being suicidal, as it feels that nobody cares the hardships and struggles that I have been through.

I hope all kind souls out there are able to give me a second chance to fight and live a happier life by allowing me to seek medical treatments (psychological, physiotherapy and surgery). I will truly appreciate any amount donated as no amount is too small to help as the funds received will be used to pay for my ongoing medical bills, surgery fee, bank loans, basic necessities and legal costs.
