Short Film for the SWIFF Competition

Hi I'm Patrick Higgs, I want to tell you about an exciting new project I will be working on soon! A short Film for the Southwest Indiana Film Festival. This will be my first foray into the behind the scenes aspects of film making. I am mostly known for my on camera work, in television and movies and commercials. I have been very lucky to have worked with some great directors in my career, including Penny Marshall, Tom Hanks, Shane Drake, Darren Craig, Alan Ferguson on various film projects and videos. Watching each one of these talented people, I know I have been able to pick up some of their skills and techniques. I have always wanted to direct, but just never had the chance, until now. I am assembling my cast and crew, several people are anxiously excited to help pull this off. Some very talented people I have worked with over the years in various projects. I will update this page with their names, photos and bios as we move along. I have a really good camera we will be shooting on, but there are a few extras that I will have to have to make this project happen. Additional memory cards for the camera, I need to upgrade my editing software, Our budget is pretty simple for what it is going to take to be able to produce this short film. The costs are basic, we need to cover cost for gas while scouting and shooting locations. The cast and crew will need something to drink and eat. We will need a few extra things for props, costumes, special effects makeup – and this is all dependent on what our genre of film is that we are assigned. Personally I am hoping for comedy, because I love to make people laugh. But even if we are assigned a drama or a horror/sci-fi I know my talented team will be able to pull off a really good short film.   While this is a chance for me to be behind the camera, this is also giving some very talented people a chance to be in front of the camera. Hopefully we can win an award out of all of this and that can help everyone in the cast and crew go on to bigger and better things.   I really wish I had the extra money to fund all of this myself, but unfortunately I don't at this time. So I am reaching out to you and hoping that you can pitch in a small amount to help us. We have a few things we would like to offer in appreciation for our thanks for your helping us out. First of all, everyone that contributes will receive a digital download of the final film. I want you to see what we are able to accomplish. We will send this out following the festival and will appreciate your feedback also! Secondly, for donors at the $25.00 level we will include your name in the Special Thanks section of the film. If you are wanting to help us out even more, at the $50.00 level, we will somehow work in your name in the film. You might be a character we see on screen, or you might be someone a main character talks about and they mention you on screen. We can only do this for a few people, so if you want this be sure to jump on it first! Even if you can only donate a dollar or two or five, every little bit will add up and help us reach our goal of $475.00.
