Short Docu Film Project

Greetings!

My name is MJ Samaroon, a striving independent filmmaker from Malaysia. I'm passionate about telling stories. I am here on behalf of our team from J. Films.

We are currently making an advocacy short documentary that features the trials and tribulations of a mural artist fighting for his art in Johor, Malaysia. This short documentary project is entitled "Story Behind the Wall" .

"Story Behind the Wall" is the title of the biopic documentary which tells the audience about the story of NABIL (@nabilink), a young artist based in Johor Bahru whose greatest desire is to become an endless mural artist. However, it is a formidable task: how will he do it? This story will inspire many Malaysian youths, particularly those believe it’s not possible to make a living through the arts. Nabil proves that it is possible.

We need to raise 2500USD in order to bring this film to life (including production crew fee, traveling and lodging, production cost, lights and camera requirement, post-production etc.). This project of mine is non-profit, and those who contribute will have the opportunity to be a part of the production of this film. Once completed, I plan to submit this film to festivals, both local and international, as well as publicly screening it at different schools, to raise awareness about youth, the arts, and policy issues in Malaysia.
